Electronic/dance music suggestions

I am really into music rock/folk/new wave etc but I've never really explored dance/electronic music. I know what I like from hearing tunes in clubs and on the radio but I'm not sure where to start, I prefer the music with soul type vocals and I don't like the whole 'Euphoria' genre or techno. I'm into Parliament/Funkadelic and funk music in general, can anybody here suggest some good albums/compilations to start with?. Thanks.

You could do worse than listening to a few of Tim Sweeneys beats in space radio shows. New ones get put online every wednesday and they all tend to have ceratin funk/disco sensibilities, the below one in particular is great even if it is a bit old...
