Hiring suits abroad?

I'm getting married abroad this summer. Our original plan was to buy suits here in Ireland and bring them over with us and let the wedding party just keep the suits afterwards.

I'm in two minds now though because I've found a suit hire shop close to our wedding hotel that will deliver the suits and collect them after the wedding, which is very appealing as it saves on baggage space (Me, best man, grooms man and 2 fathers suits, shirts & shoes )

All they need though is measurements, I'm wondering would it be normal to go to an Irish tailor/suit hire shop to get proper measurements and send them off to the hire shop abroad or would they tell us to piss off as we are not hiring or buying from them? I would of course pay them a fee for for their time and work.

The rest of the wedding party don't arrive at the destination until 2 days before the wedding so we wont have time to get them measured over there.

If anyone has any experience with the pro's and cons buying locally or hiring abroad for a foreign wedding that would be great. :)

We got married abroad and did just buy the suits to bring with us. Had no hassle then.

One worry id have would be arriving a few days before and the suits not being right. Would language issues come into it too if you'd problems?

It does sound good to save on carrying suits though and I presume cost. I imagine if you found a tailor who maybe works separate to a suit shop they'd measure the guys for a small charge. Can't imagine it'd take them long to do.

Do you have a planner or know anyone locally near the venue that could vouch for the shop and recommend it.

    Thanks Sillysocks

Language wouldn't be an issue (Its Malta btw)

We do have planners and they do recommend a hire shop but I'm not seeing anything I like on their website and I'm seen lots of lovely suits here in Dublin that I really like. Head melting decision to make but I'm sure whatever we do will be fine in the end.

Well to be honest it wasn't much hassle for us carrying the suits over. You'd probably still have shoes and shirts as would imagine hiring those could be an issue. So it's just the suit itself. We just got the suits a couple of months in advance and each person brought their own so we didn't have to bring over 5 suits or anything, just my husbands. I think he even just folded it and put it in his suitcase! I think it might have added a fair bit of stress not getting their suits until a day or two before the wedding especially somewhere that the guys hadnt even been able to visit to get measured or try on sample ones etc.
Plus if you buy them they can keep them to wear again and you're not worrying about something happening to them on the day.
