I'm a student in Game design and made a simple walk around gallery for my friend who does simple photography.

    Any comments for improvements?

PC friendly only.. requires small 1mb plugin to work. keyboard and mouse.

I'd suggest putting it at the end of the menu on the LHS, or at least not at the start. If I open a website and see a cheery "Plugin required to view this site!!" I immediately close the tab.

    Understandable.

Jpeg with controls on the left is good Idea.

I understand your thoughts on plugin at start, but in order to make the scene interactive the webpage needs to understand the 3D model file.

In the future I can see web browsers integrating more graffix integration like flash, directx, html5. so the plugin may only be for short term.

Is it possible to have a standard landing page and then a click here for plugin sign or something - at the moment when I land it's just a blank page with a sidebar and nothing entices me to go downloading a plugin.

I echo DaireQuinlan - I'd just close the site to be honest :o

Flash used to be ubiquitous, it's probably still a fixture on most browsers, but of course will be an issue on mobile devices. Even on desktop it's being phased out. I wouldn't touch directx as a web tech with a 10 foot proprietary pole. Best bet for future work at the moment is probably the HTML5 canvas and optionally WebGL.

    Another Good Idea,,,

Yes a welcome page, or image of what you expect to see before hand is something I didn't think off.

    Thx

Yes, I see HTML5, being the way. the purpose of the 3D Gallery is to step foot into the picture presentation area.

Pictures area Great, but sometimes its where the pictures are placed, which can be just as important.

The gallery is just an idea, as its 3D, the pictures can be placed in a environment the photograph thinks his pictures would suit.

I agree, towards the end of the list as the unity player takes 60 seconds or so to load on my computer. Looks great though. A nice feature on any photographers website
