    Hi!
I am interested! Haven't applied yet though? :/

I have yet to get work experience and worried I may be too late to apply.
I am a qualified secondary school teacher with the subjects of English and Religious Education.

I could use some help with the online application form if you've applied?
I know it has been asked already within the thread but the section 'Statement of Career Aspirations' anymore information regards this part?

Also as I have no experience yet, it states on the programme page 'If you don’t have experience, you should indicate what plans you have to fulfill this requirement.' Would you upload a detailed plan in the section 'Proof of Info. work expr.'

Any ideas of what the likelihood of acceptance without the experience prior to applying? I am EXTREMELY interested in this course and would love to be accepted and attend in September!

    Thanks

Hi all. This is the School of Info and Library Studies here. We just wanted to respond with regard to employment prospects. The data on graduate destinations shows that our postgraduates have been generally very successful in gaining employment, even during the difficult years of the recession, when all sectors experienced a downturn.

From the class of 2013 (the most recent figures available), almost 70% of the graduates who responded to the survey are either in employment or have gone on to further study. In 2012, employment or further study accounted for 60% of graduates, while in 2011, the figure stood at 85% of those who responded. Our programmes are also viewed as offering an excellent preparation for the workplace – again, from our 2013 cohort, 70% of our postgraduates considered their professional training with us to be “relevant” or “most relevant.”

Hopefully this will give you some info, and if you have any questions feel free to email the School at sils @ ucd.ie

Im looking into this course at the moment, probably do the grad Dip and not the MLIS.

Im stuck between this course and two others either digital Humanities or Museum Studies.
My background is I graduated with a 2.1 in (Digital Humanities) English and Archaeology in 2013 from DKIT and since then tried jobbridge and got office work for 6 months and got let go before Christmas. So thinking of heading back into college in September.
I be interested in hearing from other graduate and hearing how interesting they find the course and is there much digital elements involved because I see the department has a new digital curation course this coming year but I don't fancy being a guinea pig for new course had a bad experience with my previous degree as it was a new course.

And of course jobs prospects home and aboard

Hi again, SILS here; just with regard to the MLIS/GradDip; The Programme is designed with Humanities students in mind. As a result of this, there is no expectation of students having any experience of programming or technical issues and we structure our modules on that basis.

With regard to the new MSc in Digital Curation, it is the case that it's new, but it is being offered by an established School within the University, by existing and recently employed academics who have experience in Digital Curation programmes, and who are up to date with best practice in both Europe and North America.

In terms of job prospects, our 2010/11 postgraduate class was surveyed and 60% replied. Of those that replied, 80% said that after a year that they were employed in the industry and that their qualification from SILS was influential and relevant to their holding that post.

If we can answer any more questions just let us know. Our school email is sils @ ucd.ie

I was trying to find the cost of fees for this course but it doesn't seem to be listed.
Is there a further breakdown on the modules available to view? To give give a better insight into what will be covered in each one

Hi again; very sorry for the delay replying, I was trying to come up with a firm set of figures but I don't have them yet. It looks likely that the MSc in Digital Curation will be €8,000 to take it full time. That is still provisional but it isn't likely to change.
