Selling a working Macbook Pro in 2015!

I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch bought in March 2012 that I am looking to sell. Still in perfect working order, not a scratch on it. With two tablets and an android box in the house now, it just doesn't get used much so I'd rather move it on that have it gather dust.

Adverts seems like the obvious place to sell it, but it can often be quite a lengthy process getting rid of something on Adverts between flaky bidders backing out and people trying to negotiate and play hardball. Not looking for a kings ransom, just whatever it would be worth.

Can anyone give me any pointers on where would be the best place to sell it, and roughly what a working macbook from early 2012 should go for? NB - it's not the retina version, just the regular one.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Kenny

Go to mac2sell.net, enter the spec of the machine and it will give you a guide price for what it's worth.

Adverts isn't too bad if you're realistic about what your item is worth and make it clear it's cash only and so swapsies.

I've bought and sold a few things on it and found it ok, of course there will always be a few twits who will try it on but someone looking to buy a Macbook should be on the level with you so long as you're reasonable about the price.

    Good luck with the sale.

With a big price item, I put in the bottom price I am willing to take and set it as "set minimum offer". This will get rid of the tyre kickers and p*ss takers. State quite clearly you don't want a swap, cash only, as Zener says.

I've a 2011 Macbook Air. That website tells me that in nearly 4 years it has only depreciated by €50, seems like a massive over-estimation!

Sold a couple of Apple things on Adverts.ie and am very happy with the site itself.

Not too happy with the number of Timewasters on there though!

One way you can avoid this is to put a link to the page on Apple's sites with the official specs.

One other thing I prefer to do is to put a mobile phone number only and say you won't reply to e-mail/SMS as people who call seem more motivated.

Finally, I ask for cash and say the buyer must be willing to collect from outside my workplace (insert location of public place here).

Don't know about you guys but I'm all for a good haggle (I load my asking price by 10% for this reason) but only will negotiate face to face when I see the money in front of me. If people do it over the phone, they're probably going to waste your time anyway.

Sounds harsh but when it comes to Apple stuff I've had no shortage of phone calls so am really happy to play hardball!

Sold a 2010 MBP on adverts last year for 550, there's always demand for them.
