Ok, i really need some sound advice on what to do with my jeep. A few months ago she started to smoke a bit when i would start her. Especially when i parked her downhill on the slope on the street. Went to toyota and they said she was 100%. Nothing wrong with injectors. Move along till xmas and she is smoking badly all the time when i start her. I mean a huge ploom of white smoke. When i rev a bit i get another ploom. Then when i take off she puts out a ploom of blue smoke. When she heats up to normal the smoke stops. I have been back to toyota twice about this and still they say she is fine. they have done the diagnostic check both times. I have 75% made up my mind to upgrade. I am just so worried that the injectors are going to go and cost me big dollars. She is an 07 with 200K on the clock. Any advice plz plz....what is wrong?

First mistake is going to a dealer with an older vehicle out of warranty! Try a diesel injector specialist, most big towns have one.

Wait and see what replies you get first, a few 'cruiser fans on here.

White smoke is unburnt diesel and on start up could be worn injectors. Blue smoke is usually oil and would be a separate problem.

Has it been serviced regularly and you've always used quality diesel?

Clean diesel used..i stay away from the messers.... jeep is serviced twice a year by a toyota dealer and their good mechanic. I do about 30 k in milage a year, so she is well cared for.

I would examine the pick up in the sump see is that getting gunked up from failing injector washers. Start at the start anyway.

I have to disagree with you on that point, just because the op has the idea of injectors in his head as being the problem suggesting to go to an injector specialist is not the best of advice.

One would think toyota would have diagnosed the problem for the op as they should know the engines better than anyone, from what i can make out from the ops post is toyota only plugged it in both times never did any physical work on it. Maybe we are not getting the full story on it. I couldn't see a toyota garage giving the all clear on a jeep with that smoking anyway.

I'm probably painting Toyota dealers with the same brush as Land Rover dealers who are mostly muppets, if the computer can't fix it they haven't a clue!

Also should have made myself clearer, I meant a diesel diagnostic specialist.

Well. just an update. I am travelling to dublin mid week and i am going to book it in for a check-up with some of the toyota garages up there. I have an idea of one. I am not going to mention it, but will keep you posted. I have not been keeping videos of the jeep starting so that i can give a mechanic a better idea.
