I'm in need of some heat on my bones and I have a week booked off next month.

My first thought was a Canary Island, but while I want to go and relax, I know that after half a day by a pool I'd be out of my mind. Still though, I might just go there and toddle off on some adventures during the day.

The next place I thought of was Dubai. I don't really know anyone who's been there so I'm not sure what to expect.

Where else should I consider? I have no real list of must haves, although I would prefer no package type crap (even though I may still end up in maspalomas!!!!). I want a direct flight, from Dublin - would consider Belfast. I have a week so it can't be quite the other side of the world although I could see about getting another few days off if there was somewhere worth going and take a few days off my summer break instead! I'm not very well travelled. I've only ever been within Europe and North America, I would go anywhere though and do pretty much anything.

    Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Down to Puerto Del Carmen, rent a bike from these people http://www.mountainbike-lanzarote.com/ and spend your days exploring while getting exercise. Rent a car for a day to explore further.

I'll be well into marathon training at that stage so exercise will definitely be on the menu!!

I'm not sure if I'd love the idea of driving though.

Never been to lanzarote so will check it out, thank you :)
