What to do after early retirement?

I'm thinking of taking early retirement this year after a very long service in the same job. Part of the reason is my mother is quite elderly and is getting to the stage when she is not able to get out and about by herself. There are only the two of us in the family. The other reason is that I'm fed up in my job. It can be quite stressful and I really don't want to do it anymore!

I got the figures for my retirement and I won't have tuppence to rattle off a tombstone! Luckily I have no mortgage or loan repayments so I'll just have to get used to having the bare minimum to live on :(. My question is is there anything I could do from home to make a few bob? I already sell on eBay but that hardly makes anything! I also do online surveys but that's not going to make me rich either!

I don't mind working two or three days a week just for some pocket money! I thought of applying to be a movie extra or a secret shopper? Anyone in the same position and if so, what would you recommend to boost my income? I don't want to take an office job, I've had enough of that! I don't want to volunteer anywhere either! It's not about keeping myself busy as I'll have plenty to do at home but more about getting a few extra shillings each week!

What do you do at the moment, is there any part time version or similar field that you could do for a few days a week

Would looking after your mother qualify you for the Caregiver's Allowance? Might be worth checking the rules for this.

Office work. I don't want to do this any more!

I thought about it but I don't think she'd qualify. She's a very stubborn woman and always pretends to the doctor that she can manage. She's very convincing and I don't think her doctor would agree to sign the forms. My mother would also not like the idea of having a 'carer'. Although she's 86 she still thinks she's a young wan!
