Financial services, career move back to finance

    Hi all,

Im looking for some career direction advice. I originally qualified as a chartered accountant through practice 14 years ago. Once i qualified i moved into insurance/funds. Ive worked in various operational roles within funds over the last 14 years.

However ive always wanted to move into a finance or risk function either within funds or in industry. Ill be loosing my current job soon which has prompted me to look again.

I dont want to continue in operational roles as i feel im not using my skill set and neglecting my core qualifications. Given the time since i worked in direct accountancy or pure financial role, I think its very difficult to find a way back into finance.

Salary is one thing. I dont have the recent relevant experience to get a role as a financial accountant that would be any way on a par with my current salary.

Apart from salary considerations, most roles are looking for recently qualifieds.

Does anyone have any suggestions how i could get to the career direction that i want?

    Many thanks.
