Hi I hope I am posting a suitable thread.

I live in Dublin 8 and have mobile broadband with 3. Generally it is fine, sometimes a little slow but ok.

I need to increase my monthly allowance and have been told UPC is about the best value especially with the free calls.

I have read some quite old threads about poor speeds and customer service from UPC. Does anyone have any up to date advice about UPC broadband ?

    Many Thanks

Have used upc broadband for years, have never had any major problems, very few outages, fairly sure average speeds are well below the advertised maximums but always fast enough for me for streaming and downloading etc.

Customer service a bit shoddy at times, but I've hardly used it in years.

I wouldn't change my UPC broadband for all the tea in china, use it constantly for years, about 8 devices using it - very few problems in that space of time, and while I've heard and read complaints about their customer service I personally have never had a problem, only minor thing is them trying to sell their horizon tv.. Im in Dublin 10.

They've always been pretty dead on for me via Ethernet.

I'm in Dublin 6 and UPC has been rock solid since I signed up about three months ago. Even when I had to have a new physical line installed, they were actually on-time and got the work done in about an hour.

    Wish list:

    1. let me use my own equipment
    2. make myupc site better

I got the full 240mb/s all the time.

UPC are easily the best performing ISP in Ireland and this is born out by all the rankings done by various companies who monitor these things (Netflix, Steam, speedtest.net, samknows, etc.).

You won't know yourself coming from 3G, it will be so much better.

Just to add, when I did have a problem with my connection I couldn't fault UPC. They didn't find an issue within the house so had another crew pop out the next day to check the cabinets on the street, replaced some part and came back to me to get me to retest, and the engineer himself rang back a couple of days later to see how things were with it.

I can only get Mobile broadband in me area... but there's fibre cables running outside alongside the length of the road, and meself living in the countryside...

If I could, I would get UPC in a heart beat!

Had had a service with them since 2010.
There has been a total of 2 dropouts in all that time.
One was for a day.. The other for 15 mins.

    Broadband is steady enough.
    Drops rarely.
Speeds are max 60mps over wifi, other side of house when using, which is fine.

Customer service is like something from the seventh level of hell, avoid where possible.

    So, overall : tis grand.
