Reading in the journal today, a farmer has one and finds them good. anyone got one here ? or know what type of cost they are ? . Seem to be the next thing up from a standard race. I'm sure someone more PC literate then myself could put up a YouTube clip to se them in action :)

They are a fine bit of kit but be sitting down when ya price one!

They are a good yolk but don't even think for a minute that it is portable. Samson wouldn't move the bloody thing around even with the transport kit. If you have access to help you don't need one and unless you have a good single file race set up to fit it into don't bother with it. It wouldn't work without. Also, the stNdard of welding on Ritchie stuff is not as good as it used to be. Prattley is the same too. I think this happens when these companies get too big and accountants start running them. Pm bout the combi clamp if you want

If I ever go full time and have time to bring all the ewes to the yard to work on, one of these will be top of my purchase list.

Are they that much better then a proper race with separating gate ? I have neither but have applied for the grant to assist purchase of one.

Much better, saves the knees. Saw one working once and removes all that dropped heads, leaning back falling down in race and trying to get enough into race to make it easier. They're not very mobile though and thats the only reason I dont have one at the moment. As with anything though you need numbers to justify

I've a list of things that I need to buy. These include a fertiliser spreader (as I ain't got one) , more sheep penning, more fencing to divide fields, sheep slats would be nice, the list goes on and on. However that clamp might be cheap if it saved you putting out your back or hip. Imagine the consultants fees then :pac:

great looking yoke but can ye imagine changing the width after dagging a couple of hundred lambs.....

Would you not want a gate at the front of it to shop a sheep bolting out too quick, and maybe only clamping her guns quarters, leaving her dangling kinda? Is there much pressure on the sheep? What about using it on in lamb ewes?

That can happen alright but you get handy with it and it will be less likely to happen. It actually takes very little of a squeeze to hold the ewe steady and this is adjustable so it would be fine with in lb ewes
