Phuket

    Looking at going to Phuket and the surrounding area for about 9 days in April/May.

    Anyone have any tips for the area? Will probably stay inland for a few days in a nice villa with private pool etc to relax then onto the Patong area for the last few days.

    Any previous travelers care to comment?

    May should be cheaper as you're coming into low season, Kata and Kamala offer good away from it all locations and are within easy reach of the nightlife of Patong.

    If you want to relax. Fly in to Phuket then take an hour taxi (30 euro) north to Koh Lak, way better class of hotel, half the price and far more beautiful and relaxing. You are in a national park and all the phuket tours come up here to go rafting, a decent clean beach, elephant trecking, to see the waterfalls, islands off the coast, james bond island and everything else that isnt whore filled, drug induced, taxi ripoff beer cess pitt... not a fan of Phuket, but dam Koh Lak is amazing. Stayed in a villa in the pullman and it was paradise.

    Moped hire is 2 euro a day and the people are so much more friendly than the russian over run phuket
