Is Sky News no longer available on freesat?

    Hey all

I have a combi box that updates automatically. When we first got the box a couple of years back we had sky news but it is gone with over a year now. We have BBC news and all other Irish and UK channels. The box is a Triax TSC 114 combi box. Can this box be used to pause tv, rewind and record? I think I may need another box with it for the pause rewind function.
    Anyone know?

    Thanks

Sky News is still available via freesat. You should be able to record on that box by installing an external harddisk.

    Cheers

I have the Sky News channel listed but when I go into it it is blank. The signal is at about 45% but the quality indicator is at 0%. Any idea?

Sounds like your dish has moved or a cabling problem somewhere.

I don't know as I have all other channels except ITV HD which seems to have also gone. Is it possible that Sky removed the channel from freesat as it would take away from their sky offerings?

I have connected a hard drive to the box and I can now watch films on it. However to pause tv and record it seems I need to format the hard drive but will not erase what I have on it already?

You don't have a Sky receiver so Sky have no control of what is in your channel list, they only control their own epg/channel list on their own hardware.
You could try scanning in the relevant frequencies for the lost channels to see if that fixes it. Channels occasionally change frequency.

A format will erase existing data on the drive.

Do I not need to format so? If I press record will it just create its own location on the hard drive and not overwrite?

    Thanks

    Take a look here http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php
find the frequencies for the channels you want and scan them in individually

I did that and it said transponder already exists. That was for the sky news channel.

I found this site for the Triax and it gives great info.

the triax 114 combi is not a freesat receiver its saorview receiver also free to air satellite receiver if sky news has changed transponder do a rescan and u should find it as it will not update its self as only freesat receivers do update with out doing anything as triax 114 is saorview approved but not freesat approved

I think I did a rescan before and it didn't work but I might try it again. I get a message periodically saying 'channels have been updated'. Is that referring to both freesat and saorview channels?

Most likely just the Saorview channels.
