Is there really such a thing as over 20s? I mean is that even legal? I always thought it was just a way of discouraging underage lads from turning up.

I think on point of principle an 18 year old who wants to see a lad who's been at it for almost twice that should be allowed.

Of course its legal. A bar can refuse you entry for absolutely any reason under the sun, as long as its not blatant discrimination (Racial, Gender etc) If the door policy was that you had to be born on a day that's a prime number, then its perfectly enforceable (and probably unprofitable)

You do not have a god given right to be on a private premises, licensed or otherwise, but you'd swear we did by the carry on at the doors some times.

Turn up on the night, dress accordingly and hope for the best. Try arrive with the crowd. As long as you are actually 18, you might just get waved through.

No such legislation. If , for example, I refused you a job based on your age and provided you could prove I didn't employ you because of that fact, then its discrimination. However, equally I could say you were unable from lack of experience (Too young) or physically unable (Too old) Then it would be legal.

Entry to a licensed premises, in fact any premises, is at the owners discretion.

The bouncers there are pretty sound, like if you turn up and you are genuinely a fan of A Guy Called Gerald you shouldnt have any hassle really; its more to discourage big gangs of madoutofits who didnt get into the academy from trying their luck down there.

Maybe send the promoter a message on Facebook and double check with them, but in my experience of that venue then as long as you are a genuine music fan and you are over 18 and not there for trouble you will be looked after.

Also here is a special treat, just found this on an old hard drive, a live A Guy Called Gerald hardware jungle set recorded in Berlin in 2006.
