How would I go about registering to vote? I turned 18 three months ago and would like to vote in the upcoming referendum. Thanks :)

You need to apply to go onto the supplement to the 2015/2016 register of electors.

    Follow these steps

    1 Print this form http://www.checktheregister.ie/appforms/RFA2_English_Form.pdf
2 Cross out 2014/2015 and replace it with 2015/2016
    3 Fill it out
4 Goto your local garda station and get them to stamp it
5 Find out the address of your local county or city council
6 Send the filled out and stamped form to the County council

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

On a slightly related point, I have a sibling who turned 18 shortly before the 2014 local elections, and was entered onto the supplementary register. He shows up as being absent from the register for the upcoming referendum, but it turns out the 2015 register is still in preparation.

So if anyone was on the supplementary register last year and cannot find themselves on the full register, this will apparently be addressed before Referendum Day.

    Ah

The 2015 register cut off date was in November. It's possible he didnt make it onto the 2015/2016 draft register.

The best thing to do is ring the local authority and ask to speak to the franchise department. Ask them if he is on the draft 2015/2016 register.

If he isnt he will have to go onto the 2015/2016 supplementary register.
