    Hi All,

I'm looking for a new job.
I've come across a job spec that looks very interesting.
It's advertised by a number of recruitment agencies.

Normally, I can figure out who the original company is, but not this time.
I've tried my best with Google but can't figure it out.

Is there a way to find this out? Maybe there's an art to it?
I really don't want to go through a recruitment agency and would preer to approach the company directly. They seem to be a large company, so I can't imagine they have outsourced the hiring process.

If anyone can help, I could pm them the link to the job spec.

    Thanks in advance.
    PH

Be warned, some places will not deal with direct applicants and only those vetted by recruitment agencies. I discovered that the last time I moved jobs. If you can't uncover who the company is, that could be deliberate so they don't get hounded with applications

The bigger the company, the more likely they are to use recruiters.

    Why? They can afford it.

It's not always bad working with Agents as there are some good ones out there, of course there are loads that aren't too.

A good one will be able to advise you on salary and some key points about the job/company i.e. you can say to the agent I'd like XYZ salary and they can come back with that's too low or too high whereas with a company they mightn't haggle at all and rule you out completely on the high side or accept you on the low side.

The thing is, it looks like there are a few agencies advertising the same job.
I thought big companies normally used only one agency?

I've had bad experience with agencies in the past and prefer to deal directly with the company.

The job is in Shannon, Co. Clare and its a fairly senior role with a tech company.
If there is anyone that thinks they can figure it out, I can pm you the spec.

    Thanks.

I work in a large company, we use agencies for most positions.

Why? I don't have time to vet 50+ applicants. The agencies narrow it down to 3-5 high quality candidates for us. If I was approached directly for a position that I'd advertised through an agency it would be ignored.

It's not unusual to have more than one agency advertise a role.

i found that an agency i applied to traded under a few different names..they had the same job on multiple sites. the agent emailed me and told me it was the same job! i find applying through the agencies long and sometimes you get no feedback or what stage the job is at .

You'll notice that plenty of agencies are advertising role that have already been filled in order to fill your details.

I have dealt with a number of agencies so far from Sigmar Recruitment to FRS Recruitment and they'll all been nothing short of a waste of time.

If people know what agencies are best for web development/front-end dev then I'm all ears. I'd be interested to hear what main agency/company tends to get the legit roles from bigger organisations?

Much prefer applying directly to the company myself, has resulted in far more concrete developments.

Thanks - that's been my experience exactly.

I still havn't figured out who has this position though.
I'll keep trying and ask people in the Shannon area.

If you can't find the position, consider that the position doesn't exist, and exists solely to get CV's? And yes, I'm fairly cynical of a lot of them :pac:
