    You would need to post the model of the Asus laptop.

    But chances are you will not be able to with most of the parts on less the Asus is using the same socket cpu you will not be able to upgrade the cpu. The ram will need to be DDR3 in the Asus if it is that can be used assuming their is two ram slots on the dell. The hard drive would be able to be used but no point on less it is bigger then the one in the Dell. Plus if you change the hard drive you will need to install windows on to the new hard drive.

    The Dell is a far worse laptop when compared to the Asus. (Spec wise at least)

    Nothing is transferable unfortunately, as the Dell has only one slot for RAM, and from the Asus link, it appears the Asus has 3GB dimms...so not much use there seeing that the Dell has a single 4GB with no spare slot.

    Thanks for reply- I know the dell one is fairly rubbish but budget dictates at this time of year!

    Not a bad laptop all the same. Can't do much better for the cash, will do all the basics.
