Anyone got a cheap frameset/frame&fork/Frame that they want to shift on? I am looking to build a bike that I can safely use around dublin and not be too worried or upset should it be nicked/damaged etc. I will be looking to build a single speed drop bar bike, but can use a magic gear if the dropouts are not horizontal. Ideally it will have mounting points for a rack and mudguards.

Alternatively, if a full bike was available for the right price.....

As mentioned, it is a budget beater build, so I'm not looking for immaculate cf frames etc.

    So boardsies, what have you?

I've a ridgeback genesis frame and fork that I used to use for my commuter. It's 54cm from memory. Only issue is the seat post is seized and I've not made any serious effort to remove it.

Could try it get it out if you were interested. It is something I should do anyway.

The forks and headset are available either way.

See if this is of any use to you. A commuter project for the Mrs. that never really got worked on before she realised a bus goes from our door to her work door (Reason behind selling the Vitus too..)

I think it's a 56cm Raleigh frame, late 70's, pretty decent steel but been knocked about a bit over the years. It has a single mount on the back for mudguards and I'd imagine you'll get a rack onto the same mount with a longer screw. The front centrepull brake is alright, the rear is knackered. I think I've a calliper road brake from around the same era I can throw in if you'd like though. I know you're looking to go single speed, but the DT shifters and deraileurs are working perfectly, apart from needing a shine. New Tektro brake levers and bar tape and tyres.

How does 150 sound for it? If you're interested I'll have to get the go ahead from herself, but can't imagine a problem.

    I'm in Knocklyon / Templeogue

70? Willing to negotiate. I would love to clear it out of the shed and see someone else use it.

    No problem.

In the meantime I'm going to try and remove the seized seat post anyway!

What model and year is the genesis frame?

    The frame is like this:

    http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzYzWDEwMjQ=/z/oUAAAOSwyTZUWQ4E/$_86.JPG

It is the Genesis Day 01 model.

Mine a slightly darker grey. I can get photos tomorrow. It's currently in the shed behind a number of other items.

I honestly can't remember the age it is approx 9 years old.

If you could get pictures that would be great.

Here's a few photos. I got home at 9.30pm and didn't want to spend time cleaning the frame or clearing the parts off so you'll have to excuse that.

I had forgotten that some of he paint around the nuts into the frame a various points has flaked off a little. I've taken close photos of that so as not to conceal it. Will be willing to adjust price accordingly.

I'd be willing to leave the headset on the bike, it's actually quite new, I only used it for about 2 months before I stopped using the bike. I had intended taking the bottom bracket off but I don't have to.

Anyway as I noted above the sale is dependent on my removing the seat post.

    Hey Dowee,

Thanks for the pics. Is the rear derailleur hanger broken?

Yes, the reason I stopped using the bike was I slid out on a double man hole cover turning right. The derailleur broke and went into the back wheel and ripped out a spoke. The cost of fixing versus getting a single speed (which I was planning anyway) meant I stopped using it. I've just not taken the left over part off the frame yet.

There's other bits that need to come off too as you can see from the pics.

I took the frame to the LBS this morning to see what they can do with the seat post.

I had to leave it with them, I'll report back here when there's any update.

Just an update. The seatpost has been removed. I'll be picking the frame up later today.

If anyone on this thread is still interested let me know, otherwise I'll start a new one with new pics etc.
