Etihad Air Miles

    Hi,

We're members of the one world alliance for air miles. We booked a trip to Sri Lanka through Sri Lankan Airlines.
Etihad are the partner airline flying us from Dublin to Abu Dhabi and then Sri Lankan are flying us from Abu Dhabi to Columbo, same on the return trip
Will we receive all the airmiles for the Dublin -> Abu Dhabi leg of of the trip as Etihad are not part of the One World Alliance and Sri Lanka Airlines are?

Should we set up a separate Etihad airmiles account?

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

This may be an Etihad plane, but if you this leg has a codeshare flight number e.g. UL2342 then you cannot get Etihad points.

Good spot Sri Lanka though, if you are on hols.

I can't help you whether you are eligible to claim Etihad guest miles or not. Just to flag to you if you can claim miles it is definitely worth your while.

The last time I flew to Asia with Ethiad, I was able to claim my Etihad miles and then transfer to a "Points Pay" card. Essentially this is like a prepay debit card worth approx €15 to spend on any online shop (Amazon, Ebay etc). There are probably significantly better use of miles for more the more frequent traveler, but this was a welcome bonus for me!
