    Hi All,

I will be attending an interview for a Building Inspector/Clerk of Works position with Dublin City Council next week (Jan 27th). The position is mainly site supervision of refurbishments and new builds.
The interview will be scored on the following headings:
    Planning and Organising
    Technical Knowledge & Experience
    Interpersonal Understanding/Communications
    Initiative
Does anyone have an experience of similar interviews with councils and what type of questions might be asked. Also is there any good website that would help with preparation.

The position is based with the City Architects Division within Dublin City Council so any information on that department would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    James

DCC will use standard public service competency based interview techniques.
Your competencies are listed so come up with examples of how you have demonstrated these competencies in the past and be able to expand on them.
The STAR procedure is often mentioned (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for each example.
Have a look here for some advice (lots more online)
DCC will normally ask you re your knowledge of Health & safety in the workplace so perhaps brush up on some facts on that ..
    This might help on H&S.

Worth brushing up on whats happening in the city especially Grangegorman DIT campus, LUAS X City, New city cultural quarter in Parnell Sq, New City development plan consultation recently launched (http://dublincitydevelopmentplan.ie/)

    Hi Zippy,

Thank you for your reply as it will certainly help me with my preparation for the interview. Would you recommend trying to get into contact with someone that works in a similar role at DCC?

    Regards,
    James
