I'm thorn between which college to go to as I loved each of the colleges themselves. I hope to do engineering and both places seem to have really good courses. Any advice on which side of the country to go to? Also I'll be 17 for half of 1st year so I want to be able to go out and socialise without too much sneeking around with ID and stuff. Which is better in those terms also? :)

Not in NUIG currently but I'll be transferring into Second Year next September. However, I'm in UCC now and I was in a similar situation to you.

First of all, take into account which you live closer to! There's a big chance you'll get homesick during the first few weeks and from a psychological standpoint, you won't feel so isolated if you're a hour from home compared to 3 or 4.

Second, take into account cost. Which city is more expensive? Where is accomodation cheaper? How much will the bus and travel into each respective city's centre cost you? Do you have friends going to either place?

As regards to being 17, you're probably better off in Galway with that. However, they're pretty strict in Galway too but you'll find that in all of the college towns. You have until the end of June/start of July to make your mind up anyway :)
