Alvarado Rios 3

The rubber match between Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios is on this Saturday.
The first fight was a war in a phone box whilst the second Alvarado boxed smartly behind the job.

Alvarado lost badly to Marquez and has been in a bit of trouble outside the ring.
Rios got beat by Manny for 12 rounds and beat Diego Chaves via dq.

Does anyone know what weight this is at?

Not that much buzz about it. Mike's personal life is a mess and he doesn't look to be in great shape either. For his part Rios hasn't had a real win since their first fight. But who knows, they might produce another cracker.

The fight is at 147 afaik.

brilliant match up for the fan

Rios looked drained in the face at the weigh in , will be keen to see how this finishes

Staying up for this I doubt very much il be let down. Alvarado win I predict

the undercard should be good too

Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez v Maxim Vlasov

Looking at Ramierez and Vlasov. Not a boring fight but it's not entertaining I feel the same at most light heavyweight fights I see very few entertaining fights in that division lately anyone feel the same

I disagree, I thought it was a really good fight. Surprised at the slightly negative reaction to it. There was good action in every single round, bar the first.

Very good first round for Rios. He looks very sharp, whereas Alvarado looks very tentative.

I'd give the second as a 10-8 to Rios. Alvarado better get going or he won't last another two rounds. He's taking big punches in there.

You'd fear for Alvarados safety already

Fair play to Alvarado, I thought it was about to be stopped, but he finally let rip at the end. He's still living on borrowed time.

All over, correct decision by the corner.

Nearly falling asleep watching this. Can't say I've watched loads of fights at lightheavy but Beterbiev,Kovalev and Stevenson would certainly be entertaining directly from their punch power. What's the altitude that they are fighting at?

Yes all good fighters but their fights I've seen have not been entertaining. There is potential for entertaining fights down the line Kovalev vs Stevenson for example. But lately the division has been poor

It was weird. Alvarado didn't throw that many punches let alone jobs like he did in the second fight. I did pick up in his corner after the second round complaining about not being able to see.

Disappointing end to the fight but corner/doc were right to pull if he couldn't see out of the eye

Rios looked good, but he had a stationary target in front of him. Mike looked as bad as people feared he might. Nothing on his punches at all. Nothing in his legs. Timing so bad that Rios of all people was slipping shots like he was Sweet Pea Whitaker.

Not a fight you can draw many conclusions from, but it should be enough to get Rios back in a big fight all the same.

I like Rios. I think he's a good fighter, ready to step up the next level at Welterweight. Not sure who he fights next but there is allot of talk of Victor Ortiz

Victor Ortiz is a level or two below Rios. But given the back-story that would be a great fight to make.

Yes Ortiz would not be the "step up" fight but the next one after that could be against the top welterweights, Maybe another crack at Pacquaio

No way would I put him back in against Pacquiao. Amir Khan next would be good for him Kell Brook even

Well let's take it one fight at a time. Ortiz looks the most likely right now. It's difficult to predict the future beyond

I'm of the opinion that the May/Pac fight will not happen. Floyd will fight someone on that date in May. There is allot of uncertainty around right now but allot will become clear in the next few weeks

I wouldn't put him in with Ortiz either it's a drop down in class

At least if he said 3, he could have went for the one in the middle:pac::pac:

He was off his tits I'd say. That shadowboxing was insane, he looked like a fella who stepped in a boxing ring two months ago.

His life outside the ring is crazy. He'll end up in rehab if he's lucky. It's just as likely that he'll be found in a ditch.
