    Hi folks,
spotted a Mondeo Econetic 1.8 tdci (apparently 53mpg & 140bhp) that on the face of it appears to be good value. Are there any drivers of this model out there that would like to share their experiences? Are there any common faults that I should look out for? Milage on the model I'm looking at is 92k, so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    The 1.8TDCI Econetic is 125bhp, not 140.

Is it on 92k miles or km?

If it is miles then the timing belt is due to be changed now if it hasn't already been done. This is a pretty expensive job on the post 2008 1.8TDCI so make sure it has been done before you purchase or else make sure it is factored into the purchase price. Allow about €650 to have it done if needed.

The other potential big bill that could be on the horizon is a clutch and flywheel replacement. 100k miles is about the life of them and they cost around €1000 to replace.

    I have one but it's only 123bhp.
    It's a decent car.
Plenty of room, fast enough, can go 1000km on one tank.

High gearing takes a few tries to get used to.
Very reliable, heated front windscreen is starting to fail which is a pity as it's a nice feature.
Comes with climate and electric windows all round.

I have a 2010 1.8 diesel Mondeo and really only get 40-42 mpg with it. Not sure which engine it has.

I have one, its tipping 180k now,
great to drive, very comfy. good power.
as above tank gets around 1000km

only problem I had was fuel pump went so replaced the timing belt at the same time.
