    Hi there,

Firstly I know feck all about cars, so please bare with me.
The lock on rear door of the passenger side of my 05 Bora doesn't open. It's the exact same problem as show by the guy in the following clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqQSnqLfc84
The dorr is currently locked and cannot be opened, which i#m assuming makes resolving the problem more difficult.

From the little research I've done it appears to be a common problem with the lock module in VW cars.

My car failed the NCT based on this, so i need to resolve it and bring it back to the NCT centre for a visual by wed 21st Jan!

I discussed the problem with a mechanic and he outlined a very difficult and costly solution which involved 'breaking' and replacing stuff to resolve it.

So I'm trying to resolve it myself. My hope is that I can get to and replace the door lock module. as I said the door is currently lock. I have managed to get the inside door panel off am currently at the stage where i'm trying to disconnect the window from the door, see from 5.00 of the following vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REdM4ouyk0Q

Just wondering is anyone has any advice. Where would I get a door lock module within a day or two?

    Thanks for your help/.

Same happened on my passat, on wife's uh I mean passenger front door, and the drivers side passenger door is going as well.
When the front one failed I had to batter seven shades of sh*te out of the door with a Rubber mallet, I punched the heck out of the inside of the door pulling the handle inside, finally got it from outside by kneeing, hammering with rubber mallet and pulling the door latch.

Don't buy the garbage on ebay, I had to do it all again a few months later on the same door.

Are you sure the door module has failed!?
Because I've come across lots of similar situations in VAG cars, where people had thought modules had failed, but it wasn't the case..
Check between centre pillar and rear door, you will see rubber trunking were wires are fed to the door ⅔ of the way down, please check for any frayed/worn wires.. An easy fix, just clip ends of rubber gromet of and have a good look with a torch. You can do this with front door of car open!
Actually manipulate/squeeze rubber trunking while operating door lock. So if any wires are worn they should make some kind of connection!

I spoke to a few mechanics in the area and they all gave me the same advice, that i would have to take the 2 inner door panels off and essentially break the module to release the door. So that is exactly what i did and what a pain in the ar$e is was too. just to be clear; the lock was working intermittently for a period before to completely stopped and all the usual methods I had of getting it going again (banging the outside door where the module is located, pulling on the inner lever while trying the central locking, revving the car to 3000rpm before trying it, using the key instead of the key fob) failed. There was absolutely no sound from lock mechanism when i tried it.

Anyway, I eventually got the inner door panels off (remember the door was locked) and then broke up module to get the door open. I don't know much about cars, but are all car doors this complicated?? My car passed the visual NCT inspection (the inspector actually tested the wrong door :) )

@Tea drinker - unfortunately I order a module from amazon before reading your post. Hopefully it lasts
@ardle1 - all wiring that I saw seemed in good shape and the problem with the module seems to be a common problem with VWs. Hopefully it was the cause anyway. i'll post back if the new module doesn't fix it.

Yeah, seen your post to late..... That video you posted has all the symptoms of a corroded wire, other symptoms would be window not operating from drivers door console, or if direct feed(thick brown wire)to rear door is worn/frayed well door or window will not operate at all... There can be numerous scenarios depending on what wire is affected......
Anyway I hope now in your case it is the module itself.
