Hey. Given the choice of a 2003 with 73000 miles up or 2005 with 120000 which is best?

It would be fairly impossible to tell based on that information. For all we know the 120k miles car might have a full service history and the one with 73k miles might of only been serviced a few times in its life and left overdue a service several times. Mileage or age is often not a very good reflection of a cars condition. So go with the car that has the better service history and is in better condition. If you don't know much about car mechanics then get a mechanic to check over the car before you buy it.

Also I'm Assuming they are petrol as any 12 year old diesel with 73k miles would be hard to believe 6k miles a year is quite low annual mileage.

Hmmm interesting thank you! No they are both exactly the same diesel engine. I'm looking for a Grand Espace. Don't have any choice in fact as it's the biggest 7 seater out there and I really need the size. Will be ringing the two today for more info. It's possible the low mileage one was just used for school runs? It really looks very clean compared to the newer one! Am planning on paying for a proper vehicle check when I make my decision. Here are the two...

the 2003 has a towbar on it... Below is a review on the car and on the left reviews of its competitors...

Whichever one is in better condition and has a better service history? Has the mileage been verified on both cars especially the 2003 given it's below average?

Edit: Brave man buying an Espace of that vintage.

Thank you for input! Review interesting. Currently have a 2004 scenic 1.5dci and have to say am very happy with it and no major probs. Ok so here's one for ye.. Is there any other 7 seater comparable size wize? I've only been limiting myself to the Espace because of the size. The reason for this is that we go camping every year... The amount I need to fit in the boot is unreal. Last year we were all squeezed in with no room to move a muscle. The kids kness were up at their ears and the dog was perched on a load of stuff in the back seat. This year we've gotten a new tent which is about 6 times the size of the old bag and we're going to uk camping this summer which means lots of driving so I have to keep all luggage out of the seating areas of the car. Any suggestions of other models which may be suitable? I'm selling my Scenic to fund this so that gives an idea on budget!

    +1
That's way obviously clocked if it's a diesel sure 6k p/a on a diesel it won't even be run in after 12 years like, ridiculous! That clan't be accurate

It does sound too good to be true, not impossible but yes I'm also dubious. Any way to know for sure? A mechanic would surely tell by wear and tear? I do know that there were probs with 04 scenic dashes and they had to be replaced which meant the mileage reads lower but haven't heard of it on the Espace. Must google that.

I'd rather look at the likes of a Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan or Seat Alhambra. All are the same vehicle and are full size MPVs but you will pay more for them. Those Espaces do and can break your heart.

2nd one is a UK import, I suspect going by the reg number that the first one is too. Do a car history check on both.

Thanks! How did you know that then? And am I being naive if I ask is that bad? I brought mine in from the North. Been doing more research and the Previa is the only one that comes anywhere near size wise but the layout inside is cat and I would have to get a v old one. The other ones mentioned above are way smaller.
Wish I had more choice! Open to any suggestions that might work!

E278 a year cheaper to tax than the 2.2L, which is E951 and I would have a major problem with paying that level of tax on that type of car personally...

Would also be worth looking at what generation the cars are.

Example the CLK first generation was 96-03, second generation 02-present and the 2003 2nd Gen had some issues which were fixed on the 2004 model.

AFAIK the Espace is a pile regardless of year.
