Thinking of buying a new TV but need to double check something

At moment I have aerial for Irish channels and a satillite and free view box for for the UK channels ( free view with UK post code inputted to get channels)

If a TV has both free view and saorview on box does that mean I can do away with my free view box , ie will I be able to run splitter off TV and input my two cables into the back of TV and get both soarview and free view

Not sure if this is possible if it does work be ideal

    Regards

    Jonny

Freesat is the satellite version I think you mean.

Some TVs have built in satellite, some od which are Freesat, but some not. Be careful to check this.

If you use Freesat, the TV must be set to UK, so it will not be Saorview, but will work OK, but channels will need to be sorted as they will end up in the 800s.

A Freesat box with recording might be a better solution. Freesat is well worth having as the satellite staions are updated automatically.

As above you can get both saorview and 'Free to Air' satellite on most TVs nowadays. This is pretty the much the same as Freesat but you don't get some of the benefits such as a working 7 day EPG. Check the channel lists for Free to Air to see if it matches your needs. Also switching between the satelite input and the saorview input can be a bit of a pain on some TVs, mine requires about 3 or 4 clumsy button presses.
