Converting gas hob to electric hob

Just moved into my new home. Oven is electric but hob is gas. Really don't like the gas hob. Is it difficult to change to electric?

I presume I could just loop the oven to the new electric hob which I don't have a problem with. Doing away with the gas hob. How do you do this safely?

    Thank you

    You get a RGI in.

If I buy an electric hob from Power City/Harvey Norman would they make the changeover for me?

They'll charge you for it and it may only be available in certain areas. It might be worth getting quotes from a few RGIs yourself for removing the gas hob and make the supply safe.

I would keep the gas hob unless u are dead against it, much better than elec hobs, u can see the flame and know whats what.

Anyway just on the wiring, it should be okay but remember that hobs suck some serious juice, they range from 1.5kW to 2.4 kW per ring depending on the model.
The normal is 1.5 to 2.0 so 2 of each is 7kW plus the oven, which is probably 2kw so the cable needs to be able to take it.

If you isolate the power for the oven and remove it, you will be able to get a good look at the underneath of the hob and how it's connected. Most likely a 15mm copper pipe feeding the hob either directly or via a flexible gas pipe. The former being the common method. Obviously, this supply pipe has to be terminated with the gas supply isolated. Then your electric hob is fed off 6sq cable that is probably there supplying the cooker already. As advised, RGI comes into play here.......

I dont know, the time i got one to a job in my aunts place was €210. That was to supply and fit a new regulator for the gas drum, call out/travel fee, labour and issue cert.
