I got a great deal for a flight in April through gotogate, which i found through Skyscanner, but I cant seem to pick my seat and the airline Im on says on their website you can only pick seats of you ring a specific number on their website. Do travel agents have the power/contacts to choose a seat for you? If so, i might try them as i dont fancy being squashed in the middle of a row for 12 hours when i could be chilling by the window.

    Any tips?

Did you get a confirmation number? Try entering the number at the airline's website or call them directly.

You expressed a preference for a seat by the window which is fair enough but if you want extra legroom in economy you will need to get a seat by an emergency exit. This usually involves either paying extra or turning up early for check-in.

But arent the emergency exit seats usually booked out well in advance because of their advantage?

A lot of airlines won't allocate exit seats online as they need to ensure that passengers in the exit rows won't be a hindrance to an emergency situation.

A quick google turned this up for Air Canada.

Yep this, I usually get fire exits seats where possible by checking in early.
