    Hi

I'm hoping to pick up an AA2 next week and understand that you need a USB stick to flash it and an external drive for recording.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions/ experience with what works best - e.g. presume there's no point going usb3 given that the ports are usb2.

    Many thanks.

    R

Recently purchased a Samsung M3 1TB USB 3.0 hard drive off Amazon its usb powered so no need to plug it into the mains, works like a charm with my Amiko Alien 2.. Whatever drive you do decide to get make sure and format it to EXT3 using EaseUS Partition Master or simillar software so that the box can avail of the full size of the hard drive...

Not true, I'm using one with my box for the last year. Pretty much any portable harddrive/USB stick will work fine once its formatted to ext3.

Powered drives are usually better than usb powered for recording. Particularly HD requires high speed write and usb powered drives can struggle here.
