I currently live in the Middle East and will be moving back to Europe after the summer. I am looking at shipping some stuff back with me and it is touch and go whether it is worth it.

I have some nice stuff which I have accumulated over 6 years plus a few tvs etc. However, will I need to pay any customs when the stuff arrives?

    Cheers for all your help

    Good morning,

In principle, if you transfer from abroad to Ireland, your personal belongings, household items etc can be imported without payment of duty and/or VAT. Qualifying condition is that the items concerned are used and not bought just before you transferred. You, or a customs agent needs to file a transfer of residence customs entry.

please see this link ; http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vrt/leaflets/tax-relief-transfer-residence.html

Also see this link in case you intend to bring a motor vehicle ; http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vrt/leaflets/transfer-residence-duty-free-vehicles.html

Hope this helps. Feel free to post again if you need any further assistance or clarification.

    Cheers,
