Why isn't green and red diesel done away with and the farmers just submit receipts for a rebate.

All farmers can do accounts or already employ an accountant, a new law could be done really quickly

Pop up stations, When you take the taxis and family members out of it, the general sales are totally overstated. However what about the elephant in the room of Loyalist and Republican criminal gangs working with each other? interesting

Its not just that simple. How do you define this lad has 100 acres so is allowed x amount of diesel per year and this lad only has 30 acres so hes only allowed Y amount. And then a good amount of lads would do work for the neighbour who doesnt have a combine/tractor etc. All this would have to be factored in.

Second thing is if you stop dying it then theres no way to stop random cars and test them.

And on a personal opinion... I think the government secretly like the idea that the dodgy diesel is bad for engines because it turns people off buying it. If you can just buy clean diesel direct from a farmer who is fudging his figures then no worries about engine problems.

There's a new radio-isotope marker being introduced soon instead of dye.. It "can't" be washed out. But the "Boys" will no doubt find a way around that too. Money is the mother of all invention. Necessity is waay over-rated on that front.

Setting fire to it will remove the marker. :pac:

Sounds like a good idea if it works, I've heard too many horror stories from friends who have had to spend big money on getting their engines sorted out after (unknowingly) using dodgy Diesel.

As oppossed to the massive fraud that goes on anyway in the form of deisel laundering?

At least if the scheme was rebate based then all the fraud would be on paper, instead it's fraud that's poisoning the enviornment rather then the revenue's ballance sheet.

That's a bit harsh - they're still willing to face tanks and dye, for their cause.

It'll take a lot more than what they can do now to get rid of it. Should really be fast-tracked, the amount of leaky cubes I see around roads and watercourses is disgusting.

I'm guessing by your comments you're out somewhere rough like Dalkey?

Because there's a lot of people that use marked gas oil for home heating, which is another completely legitimate use.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

That may cause more problems than it solves.
