Always solid advice on here so was wondering could I ask a question??? Have just started back running 3 weeks ago after Xmas and I'm currently running steady 10-13k 3 or 4 times a week plus one or two smaller runs with a full recovery day.

I previously mainly did triathlons but I'm really enjoying the running and I'm aiming to do a half marathon in March but I'm way over the training distances already. But would I mental to think of doing the Achill ultra in August? I can stick regimenly training no problem and the volume from marathon to ultra isint massive so just wanted input.

    Thanks in advance

Maybe do a Marathon in May/June to assess where you're at, rather than a straight jump to Ultra

Ultra is still 21km more than a marathon.. not to to underestimated.

course...go for it. just make sure you progress to the distance and run plenty of other distances and races along the way 13m, 15m, 18m, 20m, 26.2m and be prepared to wait another year or two if training doesn't go as planned. No reason not to if you are fully committed and in good health and already have a good level of fitness

Achill ultra is a beutifull ultra to do.
You be well able for it just get a plan together and train for it.
Would defintley recommend a marathon before hand, but if your training for a 39.3 you will need to be hitting marathon distance in training if not up to near a 30 mile training run.
A lot of people that have switched from triathlons to ultras have done very well.
