I've just bought myself a 2009 Volkswagen Golf Se from the UK. Mainly due to the price and what I can get there compared to back home.

I'm trying to figure out how the Irish golfs are named. Is there different names for the two countries for the same car i.e is my SE golf the same car as a Comfortline or are they different in some way as they seem to be equipped the same, yet the cars I find on donedeal are all named trendline, comfortline etc

    S is badically a trendline
    Se Is basically a comfortline

Although there could be some small difference in spec.

Thanks for the replies. Is there different engines in the SE compared to the comfortline, I was just messing around with the vrt calculator and theres over 600 in the difference between the two, the SE coming out cheaper.
They have the omsp of the comfortline a few hundred dearer and also the Co2 is higher.
I can't really tell what extras the comfortline has from searching online.

All the engines I'm aware of in the mk6 are when they were first launched they had a 2.0tdi 110bhp as a gap filler for the 1.6 TDI which was launched by 2010. The 1.6tdi would have lower emissions so that's probably what your seeing they came in 90bhp base spec and 105bhp mid-high spec. Then you have the 2.0tdi which was 140bhp and 170bhp in gtd version although a lot rarer.

So assuming your is diesel its most likely the 1.6tdi 105 or the 2.0tdi 110bhp. Also make sure to have it down as an estate rather than hatchback as it should make the vrt a bit less as the estates are worth alot less and less desirable here than hatchbacks but I'm sure you know that already.

There was a specific blue motion model which had slightly lower emissions than the rest of the range. Could that be it?

As a matter of fact, mine is the 2.0 140bhp model, I'll admit it was very hard to come across one but I managed to snap one up. The difference between hatchback and estate is actually the other way around. The SE 140 seems to be the cheapest to vrt out of all the different 2 litre combinations of spec/bhp/body type. I just hope by the time I come to Register mine in 2 weeks that it hasn't been amended. As far as I can tell their omsp is actually under the realistic valuation of the car here which doesn't happen often! Fingers crossed

Print of the quote and details you have now as proof of the price you are quoted in case they give you a higher price bring the sheet with you when getting it vrted. You made the right choice with the engine Id imagine the 140 is a nice car to drive they are so much rarer here too.

The first Bluemotion mark 6 arrived in July 2010 I used the scrappage deal then to get one. The car I scrapped was a Renault Clio that I bought new in 1997 ..
