A few weeks ago I posted here for advice on building my first computer and I got great help. The parts all arrived, I put it together and I'm posting off it now but there's a problem with the GPU, a Gainward Geforce GTX 970, not being recognised. When I go to the device manager it's saying its the Intel HD Graphics 4600. Right now I have the monitor plugged into the motherboard but when I plug it into the GPU the monitor doesn't display anything. I've tried plugging it in with both a VGA and DVI cable but no success. It's connected to the PSU with two 6 pin PCI cables that say VGA1 and VGA2 written on them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Are the fans spinning up?

Did you install the drivers for the card. If not go to the nvidia site download.

Check all connections and that the card is seated properly in slot. Check the BIOS setting for Chipset Configuration/Primary Graphics Adapter. It should be set to PCI Express not Onboard Graphics. You may also want to set IGPU Multi-Monitor to Disabled.

Then as mentioned already, install the drivers.
