Just curious what people prefer, and why?

Obviously not all games support borderless mode, but given the choice, which do you choose?

    Poll included :)

Given the choice of "Borderless" and "Fullscreen" display modes, which do choose 41 votes

    Borderless (a.k.a. Windowed Fullscreen)

    Fullscreen
    21% 9 votes
I switch between the two options / It depends on the game
    58% 24 votes
    I don't care / I don't play in fullscreen / What's a display mode?

I have multiple monitors, it has to be Borderless.

How do the borderless people get past games tabbing out when the mouse moves to the other screen?

You can use software to trap the mouse, using a hotkey (or linked to an application being launched I think).

Fullscreen. Never really had the need to do otherwise. Having said that, I'd like a new monitor when G/Free sync is refined/more affordable, but I'll still keep my current screen for browsing etc.

The two games I play the most that lend themselves to browsing the web or playing a podcast don't minimise when you scroll out of the screen and most games that require full attention tend to go disastrously wrong if you don't confine the mouse cursor.

Can't say I've ever needed borderless window other than in games where it seems to be the default.

Proper software that has borderless also traps the mouse when it needs to and releases it when you hit menus etc so that you can move to another monitor. Good examples would be Borderlands or Civilisation.

Games that don't have Borderless are, to me, failing at the most absolute of basic requirements for being on the PC Platform. It is as bad as not having the ability to re-bind controls. I'm currently playing Far Cry 4 and not only does it not have Borderless, the controls aren't working when I try to drive a vehicle/wing-suit/parachute, nor do they re-map correctly when you try to sleep at one of the beds and I have to switch back to WASD.

But it's a Ubisoft game, so what do you expect?

Always fullscreen except for minecraft or any game that may require a wiki. Everything else is fullscreen.

I love games that are immersive, running windowed kinda ruins that imo. Borderless is good but i still prefer fullscreen. Thats the great thing about PC though,so many options:)

Fullscreen here but I also use DisplayFusion which prevents window deactivation when you alt-tab out. That way, the very odd time I want to use the functionality I get the best of both worlds. Alas it doesn't work with every game (including The Witcher 2 it seems) but that's the first game it's failed to work.

Payday 2 and Arma 3 are 2 games that tab you out.

Annoying especially if pilot with a full chopper :(

    borderless for me.

As mentioned above I use multiple monitors so there is rarely a case where I'm not flicking over to open a webpage or write something or do something on another monitor.

In terms of the borderless requirement, most games worth their salt won't let the mouse just fire off screen. Skyrim was surprisingly shocking for not having this built in on release. But the point of Borderless really is to allow an instance alt+tab so you can do something on the other monitor.

Typically when in fullscreen and you need to go to a second monitor, the alt+tab takes some time to minimise the game before you can then perform actions.

A few games I play Fullscreen. They are rare and far between, but the odd time I'll want to just lash a few hours into a game and don't mind running it fullscreen.

Mostly borderless because I have 2 monitors.

Some games I switch to Fullscreen because they run like **** on my computer when Borderless (Arma/Dayz)

Depends totally on the game and If i'm arsed watching netflix or twitch at the same time :D

Borderless all the way. Some games I have netflix on the other monitor and its a pain to tab out.
