Hi, I need to change a wiper motor in a Qashqai but I can't get the wiper blades off the splines.
Is there any quick on-line source for a cheap puller (a battery terminal puller?) or someplace in Cork where I'd get one?

    If one cannot be got,
    Wd40,
loosen a coupe of threads, bit of pressure from behind and gently tap the nut.
    I've not failed yet.

Thanks but I tried that - even a bit more then 'gentle'!

    Wiggle the wiper arm

I 'walked' one off using the claw on a hammer and a bit of cloth and wood to not damage anything. Just mind not to even tip the corner of the windscreen. I would suggest to heat the arm too and it will just pop right off but I get the 'it's made of plastic' alot with the new cars :pac:.

I used a "ball joint seperator cup" from Halfords and its works well for me on a number of occasions, you may need to shim out the gap between the threaded bolt and the top of the spline.

I'm going to state the obvious here but, most wiper arms come off very easily if you lift the arm into its vertical position with the nut removed.
It really helps to break the taper.

    Thanks everyone,
a combination of muscle, wiggling, claw hammer underneath, boiling water, a more than the 'gentle tap', finally worked.
Nissan dealer quoted €380 to replace the motor (plus a two or three week supply time)but I got one on eBay for 130. It's probably a cheap copy but I thought it worth trying.
I've it off now and I've cleaned out the shaft from the gearbox which is supposed to be the problem - it's very primitive - no bearing or seal and they rust and seize.
I'm not sure if the Nissan €380 solution includes a new gearbox or not - I hope it's the motor that's gone.
Next job is to find the fuse to check that out!
    Thanks again.
