As the title i am thinking of buying a 08 Saab 9-3 diesel 150bhp.

Does anybody know the pros and cons of these cars?

Is there anything i should watch for, there seems to be a lot of car for the price of them.

    Any info would be great!

Coming from a guy who has two, dont :pac:

Ah no, they're grand if you can get a well minded one, I'm not up on 9-3 diesels but im fairly sure they have a fiat engine which is meant to be a solid engine, the trim is a bit crappy on them, and as far as i know they have a fondness for suspension bits (again, not too sure)

Parts are easily gotten for them contrary to the belief you can't and they are a pretty decent motor if you look after them! do you have a link for the one in particular you're after?

I had one before. Really great fast car but not very fuel efficient. Mine was an 04 though so perhaps an 08 one might be better. Parts are gotten for them easily enough however they are expensive and repair work can be expensive also.

I'd be wondering what's gonna go next tbh!

You could read it two ways, stuff has started to go in the past few months and after a few hefty bills buyer has had enough and decided to get rid, or you can take the ad at face value.

That turbo change concerns me, but that's just me, what happened that the turbo had to be changed? but sure anyway, it does look like a nice car, so if you want to go for it well.....go for it!

I have a soft spot for SAAB, loved my 95, but while they are mechanically sound (at least the 2.0t was) it seems to be the little things that let them down. In mine the seat memory switch wa faulty (easy repair), level sensors for the xenons were faulty (not just a SAAB thing) but 120 each and at the time stock was a little low. Drivers side seat heater was faulty again not just a SAAB issue but the soft seats make them a little more venerable to someone kneeling on the seat and damaging them. The heater control unit also is a little troublesome, the control rods quite often slip out of the arms that control the air flow.
Even with all this if it had not been for the fact I found the seats too soft and too big for me I would buy one again.

It would make you wonder alright why the owner would fork out for that much work and then put the car up for sale so soon after. You would only get value from that spend by holding onto the car as it's never money you will get back at sale time.

Why would he do the clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinder in October, then have a full service in November? Surely you'd do them at the same time?

Doing the flywheel would be a big bill so maybe tried to spread the cost?

Said he is going to UK for work but that is on every second car add!
My thinking was all major work done anything else shouldn't be much.

Doing some reasearch the engine's seem fairly reliable.
I'm not worried about resale value I plan to keep it a few years.

I dont want endless problems (i have bmw and never again)

Is it specifically a diesel you're after? I know a guy selling a petrol one, bit older but it's a solid car

Apologies if I'm dragging things slightly off topic.
Are the seats (driver's seat) solid and comfortable. I had the notion that Volvo and Saab had very comfortable seats for that class/range of car.
I'm thinking of a Saab 93 myself. Don't know whether I'd go for 08-09 or save my pocket money and be happy with the previous model and an 05-06.

They are very comfy, if you can ones with heated seats even better again, it's like sitting on a couch at home, as a matter of fact the seats in my own saab, a 9-5 are more comfortable then my living room sofa
