Which gloves for battery use?

    Hi , need to top up a battery with water , does any one know which kind of gloves offer protection aginst sulphuric acid.
    Read about it on some battery website but cant find it again and google throws up too much

    Nitrile gloves if I'm not mistaken - the purple ones you see used in lab work. Though unless you plan on dousing yourself with the stuff, as long as you're careful, most gloves would do the job just fine I reckon...

    You can also get nitrile gloves for milking. Good gloves actually, tougher than latex.

    You're topping up with water..you don't need gloves..

    They most likely will be labelled.


    I presume the concern is over the acid 'spitting' back. The adage from the chemistry lab was 'Always Add Acid'.

    So did i but any site ive visited say to protect well , and i lnow from previous jobs water and sulphuric acid can react and spit / bubble
    Plus i'm a clart :/

    Not knocking your choice to wear gloves at all - seems like a cheap line of defence to me. Though to be honest, I'd chuck on a pair of goggles before I'd put on gloves - the eyes are far more at risk, and any accidents I've ever seen caused by battery acid was because it splashed up into their eyes....
