    Bought a 2.0 litre 140bhp zetec mondeo diesel 2010

Got it at a good price & car is in great condition but motor tax is 570..........

Almost all zetec mondeos on the carsites are 390 or less could the tax be wrong?

    Its NOT an imported car....

It's based on the car's emissions not trim level, the 1.8 TDCi generally were €390 to tax, the early 2.0 TDCi was €570, then Ford tweaked the emissions in late 2010 which made the tax on them €280. The autos were higher again and the Econectic models had lower tax than the rest. Your one is obviously an early 2010 and probably one of the reasons you got it a good price. It's still cheaper than €710 if it were on the old system.

    Thanks Bazz,

Was going to go into the tax office to query it , suppose I'd be wasting my time?
could I get it remapped /& certified lower emissions so that the tax office would lower it into the 390 band?

No, they will go on what's on the VLC regardless of what modifications you make.

It goes by the manufacturer's Co2 emissions figure on the car's registration book. Talking to the tax office or remapping the car will not change anything. Anyway your talking about €180 difference which is about €3.50 extra per week over 12 months.

    Thanks lads,

Love the car, and if it's as reliable, lucky and cost effective as my last ford I'll have no worries ............
