GP said to get an x-ray as soon as possible, and go private as I will be waiting too long. My problem is where do I ring for appointment? The hospital department doesn't answer the phone and I am at a loss as to what to do now. I am in a lot of pain but no idea how to get the x-ray.

Once you have a referral letter you should be able to walk into a private hospital's radiology department or clinics like VHI Swiftcare. This is definitely the case for the Hermitage clinic. If the department isnt answering the phone, check the website or ask main reception, it's something they would probably know.

X-rays will be approx €100 each and will not go through your insurance if you have any.

If its very urgent you could turn up to the radiology dept in the hospital (whichever is closest 2 u) and demand to be seen. Most have a walkin service for chest x rays at the very least
