    i'm off to east africa.
i've done a share of backpacking
lived in oz and canada,6 months in se asia and a 2 month stint in south america
    31 year old male.so,
next wednesday 21st jan so dublin-addis
    6 weeks later i fly dar es salaam-dubai(3 days)-dublin
    that's the easy part.

so i'm planning on spending a few days with my cousin in addis
then flying north to bahir dar for some culture and trekking (simiens)
i'm debating also doing a trip to the danakil depression it's probably either that or the omo valley.i guess i could possibly do both but with brutal roads and lots of flights i'm wondering.

the second half of my trip is open
    but here's what i'm thinking.
    fly addis -nairobi.
check out nairobi possibly mt kenya park
bus to arusha Ngorongoro and Serengeti sarafi for a few days there maybe.
i plan on spending my last week in zanzibar that's about as far as i got.
my friends had a great time in kigoma but i don't know if i want to travel that far west.

i'd appreciate any input from people that have been out that way!
    i know it's a very loose plan.
    that's usually how i travel.that way i can do as i wish
hopefully some boardsies have some tips.:):):)

Spent a day or 2 in Dar, can't rem much to be honest. spent 2 weeks in Zanzibar-->STUNNING. Stone Town is VERY touristy though, so watch out. there is a night market there, fresh food being cooked in front of you, different stalls. amazing. i had the best tuna of my life there! :)

i know of at least 3 people whose luggage went awol in nairobi, so be prepared.

SOrry i can't offer too much more…I will have to check back over old photos to remember things.
You're going to have an amazing time :)

I spent 3 weeks travelling solo in Tanzania 2 years ago. I flew from Arusha to Zanzibar for quite cheap with Coastal air booked one week in advance. Organise your safari in either Moshi or Arusha. Moshi is a much nicer town to spend some time in. I took a day and went to the different companies for both climbing Kill and my safari and was looking for the best deal to leave asap.

Zanzibar, eat all the seafood! I had the best meal at my hostel New Teddy's Place in Paje. Really cool hostel where the rooms all have no floors, just sand. Drink Konyagi with mango juice, soooo good.

    thanks for the replies..

i'll eat every bit of seafood in sight,
    i'm good at that!

i'll keep moshi in mind and see how it pans out.
can you remember how the safari is priced on the ground?

zanzibar should be great fun, everyone says great things.
might stick to the mango juice, daisies:):)

    course you can come jackie!.
see u in dublin airport wednesday evening:D:D:D

Haven't been to danakil or omo, how long will you have in Ethiopia?. Lalibela, Axum and tigray well worth a visit.
I think I was must surprised by churches in Tigray.
