Moving abroad without a job. Advice/Opinions

    Howdee,

Perhaps this is the wrong forum, but it might be applicable here as well.

I'm looking to hopefully do another stint abroad. I went back to uni as a mature student and finished last year. I've been working freelance ever since, but not making a whole pile of money to be honest.

Advice I'm getting is to move to the place I'd like to live/work, then try and secure temp work while on the hunt for what I *really* want.

I'm too old for working holiday visas, so looking at the UK for starters. (the continent as well)

The risk, for example, going to somewhere like London without a job is obvious.

The advantage is I'd have an address and I could apply for a NI number.

No guarantees I'd get a job though, but it could be worth the risk.....

Other smaller cities in the UK would be riskier obviously. (less jobs)

I'm between two stools. On the one hand, I could be here procrastinating for another 6 months, or I could go and force my hand. Sh*t or bust so to speak.
