The new service, from Dublin to Reykjavik, will commence June 2nd.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with a flight time of two hours and 20 minutes. Lead-in prices are being quoted at €49 each way.

The flights follow easyJet's introduction of direct flights from Belfast to Reykjavik last month. Prices on that service start from £39 each way.

Iceland has long been regarded as one of the ‘must see’ Nordic travel destinations, and is famous for its Blue Lagoon, volcanic landscapes and Northern Lights, among other attractions.

In June and July the country enjoys nearly 24 hours of sunlight, meaning many outdoor pursuits continue late on into the night... including Midnight Golf.

Great news. Always wanted to go visit Iceland. Seems to be a beautiful country. Looked into it before and it was very expensive. This should make it much cheaper.

Iceland could do very well out of this. Flights already on sale here - http://wowair.ie/

Hardly the first flight, there have been flights from Belfast in recent years.
    Certainly interesting though.

Strange set up on the website. Tried looking at flights and prices for various dates in Feb. A fare calender comes up, but when you click on various dates, nothing happens.

I think first flights are in June, was looking for a weekend, the €49 doesn't include taxes and is one way only too.
The only flights for €49 are the ones out, and the cheapest return flight is €80.76
Return flights for the cheapest weekend fri-sun in June is €136.

Still decent by all accounts compared to what it used to cost, but I almost was thinking €49 return for a second, I was really excited. Still think its on the cards though, the place looks amazing!

Whale murder isn't an obligatory activity on the tourist trail. It's not like the Faroe islands where they're all at it.

Anyway you could encourage environmental tourism and go on a whale watching trip, they do that too.

The new route isn't operational until the 2nd of June.

If there is an ash cloud you'd be stuck. Can't fly around it if you're on it!

Suppose you are right, killing sheep is banned by the international sheep commission, yet the English keep doing it, silly me

What is even funnier is that they think Dublin has great prices. Its obviously cheaper than Iceland, that is countries that offer far better value
