basic three issue, theres two networks 3 IRL and regular 3, when i lose 3 IRL it auto connects to 3 which is just 2G. Then need manually reconnect even when preferences are LTE or even 3G. Is there any app or setting to block my phone touching the 2G one. rather be out of coverage for 5 mins than have to deal with it everytime i get the lift in work?

Setting -> Mobile Network -> Network Operator

You can select manually which operator you want to select.

It takes couple of minutes to give you the list of available mobile operators.

I do this, but i need to block 3 with just 2G as once it connects it doesnt bump back to 3G/4G without going through the process everytime

    Google throws up this:

Try *#*#4636#*#* in your dial pad (type the * and # also). Under Phone information you will find Preferred network type. Select GSM or WCDMA from there.

    You will find

WCDMA preferred this will use both 2g and 3g whichever has the better reception
WCDMA only this will use only 3g
GSM only this will use only 2g
