    Hi all

My son aged 21 has just been told he needs a third root canal treatment done. Three different molars so it’s been extremely expensive to say the least. Is he just unlucky or might there be an underlying cause for this? He takes care of his teeth and has never had any extractions, and only an odd filling. I’m beginning to dread when he mentions the word toothache!

The root canals are needed because of either decay or cracks in the teeth. More than likely its because of decay. His dentist should starts a regime of prevention and advice on sugar intake. Its is most unlikely that these root canals are required due to developmental abnormalities.
