Just wondering if anyone knows some nice long drags in around limerick city.
I have a few short sharp ones @ my doorstep with Cratloe nearby, but looking for some nice long drags...not necessarily too steep.

Just seeing if theres any im overlooking and could incorporate into weekend spins (no further than 25/30K from city).

My regular spins normally take me out around lough gur direction.
    Cheers,
    MArty.

Might be a bit far from you, but there are some nice hills around West Limerick

Two good climbs from last year's Desmond Sportive 135:
Abbeyfeale: heading out of town, past the main/new graveyard, and take the next left hand turn, there's a fine climb up there

Tournafulla to Dromcollagher - the's one up to the mass rock that's fairly steep

You can see the event map here or check Strava to see if someone uploaded their ride.

My Etape du Tournafulla route - can start and finish in Abbeyfeale, plenty of longer drags

Also some nice ones around Foynes/Loughill - turn left the N69 West where you see signs for Boyce's Gardens and hit the high road. You can loop back by Foynes town centre.

    Enjoy!

    define long?

the climb from broadford heading back towards limerick is a steady enough climb, not too steep. or that hill in the other direction.

surprised though, gallows is the best climbing around, and from the sixmilebridge side isn't steep and is a decent long climb.

And from the opposite direction out of Clonlara is a nice drag.

    Cheers all,
Queensgael...thanks for those, yes a little far but I have started cycling Limerick to kerry recently so i might incorporate that one outside abbeyfeale you mention.

When i say long i suppose something that would have a good drag for 5K or over ...... as long as i dont have to mash...

Ive cycled Limerick Broadford alright but not Broadford Limerick so maybe ill give that a go.
Ive always gone up gallows the same route and im not sure what it is i dont like about it, its a bit stepped maybe? (up by the new playground past the golf balls back into limerick)

Ive just put together a route with those hills anyway in mind and ill give it a go the weekend.

that's more of short and steep though than a long spinner though isn't it?

2.7km - long enough, but yes, steep.

Broadford to Limerick is about 3km.

Apologies, I see it cannot be zoom'ed when viewing not logged in. Not sure how to show it other way :(
