Tributes were paid tonight to Eoin Carney who tragically died after his head became stuck in a patio door.

The body of 24-year-old Eoin Carney was discovered at the back of a house in the Rivervale estate in Dunleer, Co Louth, yesterday.

It appears he was trying to get into a friend's house when he became trapped in the patio door.
Ms Sheils said she was devastated when she learned news of the death: “It was really, really bad. Eoin was a lovely fellow in his own way. He had a heart.

“He always went up to that house, it was his mate’s house. That wasn’t him breaking in there, Eoin was up there all the time.”
He had his difficulties, who doesn’t, but he had a heart of gold. He would give you the last bit out of his mouth.

“It’s just a shame because he was such a lovely lad. He looked after my daughter. She is very upset as well.
Gardai believe Carney was trying to lift the sliding door off in an attempt to get back inside.

But when he tried to slip in the door slid back at him and crushed his head against the frame.

Carney’s pal, who was asleep at the time, made the grim discovery when he walked downstairs early on Tuesday.

He moved the body and attempted to resuscitate the Dunleer man but to no avail.

Gardai were called to the scene and a technical examination was carried out.

Turns out the "lovely lad" had 50 previous convictions. Who lets someone with a serious rap sheet mind their kids?
Judge Flann Brennan said the attack on the man who had been driving from his home in Highlands down the Rathmullen Road at 6am on May 28th, 2011 was 'horrifying'.

Carney, who has 31 previous convictions, ran out in the road and stopped the car. He put his two hands on the bonnet and demanded a lift from the driver. When he got out to speak to him, Carney started to punch him in the face and also on the back of the head.

While he was trying to get the victim's phone and car keys, efforts were made by Carney's friends to try and stop him.

Eoin Carney, 53 Beechwood Drive, Dunleer, admitted the offence which happened at Cedarfield, Drogheda, on February 23rd last.

The court heard that the defendant had run out onto the street after hearing teenagers making noise outside.

He took a kitchen knife from his pocket and put it to the head of a young person and headbutted him.

The boy's parents came out to see what was happening.

The victim received a bruised jaw and was off school for two days.

He was shocked and received counselling at school for this very traumatic incident.

Lovely lad, childminder, complete f*cking psychopath. Hopefully he can go one better than Stephanie Roche and bring home the Darwin award.

Not sure what the point of this sort of thread is other than to sling and hurl abuse at.
