Possible to register a Leap card after first use?

I bought a Leap card from a machine in Connolly. I used it for 3 journeys. There is some balance remaining. I am now trying to register the card, with no success. I enter the first 10 digits of the 14 digits displayed on the front of the card. It comes back with a Systems Error, code E017. The Leap Card number you entered…

I bought a Leap card from a machine in Connolly.

Call them up, there must be an error with the card or the website, because it should definitely work.
