Second hand owner of faulty item - Returns?

    Hello,

So basically, I bought an item on Adverts.ie which has since become faulty. In the box I do have the original shipping document which states the product was purchased from Amazon within the last 12 months.

It would appear to have been bought by Amazon and not another seller.

What can I do here? bite the bullet? Contact Amazon directly or possibly get back onto the seller, have him process an RMA and I can do the postage.

A strange situation. I guess it would be easier if out of warranty. Simply bin it, cry and move on :P

    Thanks

The issue here is that any fix or replacement will go back to the seller and you are relying on them facilitating the process. I would contact the manufacturer and see if they would deal with it as you have the receipt

Yes, this is the main issue really.

The guy is an active user of Adverts.ie so i'll run it by him. Worst he can say is no.

Failing that, I'll contact the manufacturer. The problem with it is that I have data on the drives and due to them being combined, I can't just plug into another computer..

I presume the data is lost unless the drive can be fixed?

No, it's a NAS device that includes two drives. So unless the drives are also broken it should just be a case of putting the drives into a functioning unit.
