Export to UK : speedo change?

I can't find the post(s) referring to the speedo having to be swapped to MPH on export to the UK.

I've looked into this and it seems it will be required on an SVA inspection , but it's not necessarily an MoT fail. So on a standard vehicle exported that doesn't need SVA it seems likely a swap won't be needed. I'd say it would be easy to enquire about this when booking and there are so many test centres over there, you'd surely get round this with ease.

Is it an KM/H only speedo, or a dual KM/H & MPH?

We've (temporarily) exported a couple of cars to the North in the past few years. Both had KM/H only speedo's and both had to be changed before they could be re-registered in NI. We also had to send confirmation from the dealers that did the speedo swaps that the speedo's were swapped - invoice and a letter on both occasions I seem to remember.

it's hypothetical. km/h only as of course a dual one would be acceptable. how was the km/h only speedo picked up by th Authorities?

What if someone would source speedo second hand and swap it himself?

I can't remember for sure, but I think it may be part of the information on the Certificate of Conformity, that needs then to be filled in on the horribly complicated form for re-registration.

Would probably need a report from an Engineer or a main dealer to say it was done correctly and is functioning as it should.
